Andrew and Jessie had been building toward Rooted for years. Then Andrew was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He went through chemotherapy, radiation, and a major surgery that resulted in a permanent colostomy.
It was the kind of experience that strips everything back. What mattered was the land, the food, the community — the life they had been slowly building toward but had not yet committed to fully. Cancer did not create Rooted. But it made the question of when completely irrelevant.
Andrew brings 20 years of enterprise operations management, a professional chef's training, and a decade of hands-in-the-dirt regenerative growing. Jessie has spent 15 years building the Home Amongst The Green community — one of Australia's most authentic farm-to-table voices. Together they are backed by a network of advisers including Echo Valley Farm founders, governance experts, and national media figures.
